CHAPTER 6
Chapter 6: The International
Financial Company
In this, our final chapter,
we will look at a large financial institution, Savill Bank, a
multinational with three major undertakings that require our assistance:
-
Savill bank has
recently merged with (or bought, as the case is in reality) a small
investment bank, GlobboBank, for its client base in Asia. This needs
to be brought into the main Savill Bank Empire. There is, however,
an initial need to get them communicating and sharing resources
quickly.
-
Managers wish to
rename the NetBIOS name of one of the domains, the domestic domain,
and to move it in the Active Directory forest.
-
They need to resolve
connectivity difficulties of domestic US branches, which cause
resource access failures at the branches.
We will also use this
scenario to investigate some of the more advanced features of the Active
Directory and complete our Active Directory picture by performing some
of the routine activities needed to maintain and improve the
environment.
